For my gentle parent or's how are you disciplining your kids these days or what exactly are you telling them when they do something wrong

I am not yet a parent, but I want to choose in the future to do gentle parenting if or when I have kids, so...

I have viewed several content from actual parents on social medias like TikTok for an example that do that parenting style where they do gentle parenting and my takeaway from it is

My understanding of gentle parenting is that it's a more gentle approach towards the child in parenting, as the name already implies, which means you still set boundaries and stay firm.

but in a much gentler, compassionate understanding, softer way. So you stay firm, but you do it in a more fun, creative, gentle way.

As in talking to your child with respect, not yelling at them, not hitting them, not cursing at them, not name calling them, guilt tripping them, gaslighting them, as-

But instead, as an example, just for an example, when a kid, for an example, spills something, most parents would lose their shit and just yell at them and say, What are you doing? You know not to do that! But in gentle parenting, it's very different.

In gentle parenting, you would more so treat it as if it's not that big of a deal. You're like, oops, you spilled something. What happens when we spill stuff? What do we do when we spill stuff? And then you tell them, yeah, we're going to clean it.

Instead of punishing them for their actions, instead you show them what natural consequences are of their actions. Now, insofar that is possible without endangering the child, of course.

You can also redirect them by saying, hey, if you want to spill things, break things, color on things you're not supposed to, then come to me so I can give you something that you can do that with without destroying stuff.

So they can live out and explore said urges without harming themselves, others, breaking actual stuff of value, of course all under supervision so that nothing happens.

So the parents act more like a guiding system instead of a punisher, where they show their kids natural consequences, let them play out so they can explore and learn from them with your guidance.

I've learned explaining things to my kids really work and explaining myself to them as well really works. It's something that wasn't offered to me as a child so my kids aren't too bad but they listen.
