So a lot of you might be aware that a lot of the big tech companies that everyone seems to want to always work for in the tech industry have gone through huge layoffs, literally laying off thousands of people. What do you think? Is this a new era where tech careers aren't really worth it anymore, or is this just a phase?

This is your passion, then of course stick with a tech career. If you're just chasing money, find your passion. Find your passion.

Actually, it's very sad that people are getting made off by these big giant tech companies, Google, Meta But these companies are trying to just cut their expenses and to become more profitable Because after coronavirus,

The world's economy is not the same and they hired a lot of people in the pandemic and now they think they don't need

But I think things will get better in the future eventually and they will need more workforce and they will hire people again. Uh, yeah.

Playing a sad emotional music bro? That was funny. But, nonetheless, you're actually right.

Totally, and as a recruiter I could say a lot of their hiring happened just a few months before the layoffs and I think a lot of the problem isn't even reflective of the whole tech industry, it's just that they specifically over-hired just in case and now they're paying for it.

For now it may be not, but give it some time.

Yeah, I think everyone is just really scared right now and kind of on my previous point I responded to someone else. I think these companies specifically over hired and gave ridiculous packages and it's not really reflective of the whole industry so just need to hang in there.

I would say don't be deterred by the big companies laying off massive amount of people. It's always about the bottom line. It's always about cost cutting. But just know that it is worth it to go into a tech career.

I absolutely agree and I think big tech company experience is way overrated in the first place but that's also a whole different topic.

Yeah, they start laying off pointless job titles and pointless positions that meant nothing. That's why they're laying all these people off. They're making so many titles and so many positions that were so irrelevant that what's the point in having them?

I'd say yes and no. I think there definitely were some like titles and departments that were made up and some things are just like for example they they tend to hire a bunch of recruiters when they're doing well and then fire them later doesn't mean they're

And another part of it that a lot of people aren't looking at is the fact that a lot of big tech companies went through a phase of over hiring when we were in that COVID phase.

Totally, both over hiring and giving out ridiculous packages. Not that like they wouldn't be getting good packages either, but just absolutely over the top packages that they couldn't afford.

To add more layers to the conversation, Google implemented some new ranking system where when they deployed it, 6% of their full-time employees fell under that and they became high risk for corrective action.

I actually did not even know that specific point. Thank you for sharing, Tucky.

Absolutely. I think going, well from what I've seen, going into business for yourself is the best way because then you don't have to worry about layoffs, but then it's also 100% on you. I have my own digital marketing agency and it's been rewarding.

I think will happen with Google matter in somebody's other companies that they've over hired and now there's of reading back the numbers but I don't think that's an indication of the tech industries is on the decline in fact like I can only say growing in the future so I think absolutely attackers worth it
