So there's been news that Uber has, yes, once again been seen to have relatively unethical price hikes for various things. Is this genius or is it downright evil? I'm very curious to hear your thoughts. Basically they are now being caught price hiking and adding a surcharge when they realize that your phone battery is low, presumably because they know that you're going to have a very finite timeline for getting a ride home so you'll take whatever comes first. Do let me know what you think. It's quite shocking I have to say, probably quite genius, but I obviously hate being on the receiving end of it.
Yes, I mean, I'm assuming this is open access because I mean, obviously there are a lot of a lot of other apps that rely on knowing battery levels and so on. So they they've Uber have actually confirmed they can see it. They still haven't confirmed directly the low low battery charge though.
You gotta admit that is a bit smart though, because it's true, if you have low battery and you're desperately looking for an Uber ride, yeah you will take what you get right before your phone turns off. Genius, but it's unethical in my opinion. What can you do?
I think that that is unethical. I don't like that. I'm not a big fan of Uber anyway. like our local taxi services are cheaper than Uber. So that's what I use.
I feel like it's greedy, but mind you, capitalism, you know, you capitalize off of, you know, things so yeah obviously that's one way to do that but I just feel like it's greedy. That's just my opinion though.
I hate Uber and all of those apps they started out good just like Airbnb and now they suck I mean that's so shady to do to people I've also heard flights are more expensive if you order it from a MacBook as opposed to like a regular laptop so all of that kind of behavior is just shady and evil and also they don't even pay their workers enough I'm sure they do the surcharge and then don't even pass it on to the driver so I do not like them
I actually didn't know that this was even a thing but it just seems just inhumane. Not really like obviously it's not that serious but it just kind of feels like if somebody was in a situation where an Uber is the only way out of a really dangerous situation and they really needed it but they couldn't afford it because of their low phone battery like it just makes me think like they care more about the money than the ethics of it.
I think it's kind of slimy that they're taking a vantage of people that are desperate because their phone battery's low like your phone battery shouldn't affect whether you still need an Uber or not
