As with everything, it is difficult to determine how much truth comes with each side of the story. I wouldn't put it past the U.S. government to have used the Dalai Lama and his supporters as a means to their own end and have different motives than what they claimed. However, setting up a new internal structure and government has historically proven to be quite difficult. So was this just a deceptive feat on the part of the U.S. government, or a simply and only partially successful mission to separate Tibet from China?
