So I am also curious to know if or to find out how many people really understand the difference between advertising and marketing, especially digital marketing and how they differ and how they're the same.
I think so. I guess marketing is more like about the analysis and strategy of the market and product. I know there are strategic marketing and operational marketing with the known four P's. Advertising is more of a subset of marketing, how to promote the product to the customers like on TV or social media.
But I've never heard of digital marketing before. I guess it's something to do on the internet like the influencers are doing. They promote their stuff on social media like on youtube facebook or instagram Or other companies do pop-up ads or showing their ads on other websites.
Yes, that is all part of a digital marketing strategy. Traditional marketing would be television, radio, and newspaper. So, yep, you are accurate in what digital marketing is.
The biggest difference between advertising and marketing is that advertising is paid like an ad, one-way communication, whereas the digital marketing strategy is two-way conversational style through social media channels typically.
