Monday everybody So I have a question. Do you guys feel that taking a break from social media? together is You know good for your mental health. I think yes I feel like there's times where I don't know for me. I feel like the only social media That's really toxic is Instagram because everyone puts on this, you know fake show that everything is green and blah blah blah But I just get so tired of seeing the fake fake smiles and all that stuff or me myself even trying to put on this fake smile that everything's fine but Yeah, do you guys take breaks? I know we do This isn't the first time either. But yeah, let me know.

Oh my gosh yes this is a necessity social media will suck you in and there's no need for them it easy draining place at times when my partner just go on to post on are they talking truthfully a hop right off because there's a lot of more important things to do than just be scrolling

Not bad, I thought I responded to this one and I just hearted it. But um, no yeah, absolutely, absolutely absolutely agree. Um, I feel like it's just, yeah, it can be very very draining. It's definitely, it's nice to take a break, so yeah, I agree for sure.

Yes we do take breaks we're getting better about it I'm currently addicted to looking for furniture on Facebook marketplace but don't tell anybody OK and that doesn't see it but then we also are like obsessed with the chickens in anyway so yeah but it's really easy not even as and it wasn't really even like social media we were like playing games on our phone you know Put the damn phone down right

Okay now honestly like to your point, looking at furniture and like stuff like that on Facebook Marketplace can really be addicting. I've gone down rabbit holes myself so you're not wrong is what I'm trying to say. But no I get you though it's so hard like trying to put down my phone and it's hard but absolutely trying to at least just disconnect from the social side of things.

I am literally on the west coast, but I did get your message and I still definitely be looking into that. It's been such a crazy day. But no, I'm actually Cali, Cali girl. But yes, I for sure, when you sent me that message I was like, ooh, okay, I saved it. I took notes in everything.

I really want to go to Missouri. There's actually a podcast or podcasters that I listen to. It's called Let's Go to Court. It's two females and they basically just like talk about like murders and other like interesting cases and stuff but they're so fun. I love it. I love Missouri and thank you. Callie loves you. It's hot over here so yeah.

Personally, I've been trying the past few years to try and cut down social media as much as possible, not just breaks, but like in general, because I do think at the end of the day it doesn't give me that much and I'd rather have like my friends sent me something personally than to see on social media. Obviously, you can get so much more out of social media than that. But I think in general, like...

There are so many things on there that we just don't have to see and like so many things that causes all these type of different emotions like anxiety, like FOMO, like all these things are kind of heightened because of everyone's social media usage and I just don't really like that. But yeah, I'm still on the apps, like I'm using them but it is not as much, not as frequently and I'm trying to be conscious about it.

I absolutely felt this in my core. Um, I feel like... Well, yeah, no, I agree with you a thousand percent. Um, I feel like social media was used initially to, like, really connect. But now I just feel like it's being used for all the wrong things, and so... Obviously I'd love to use it to laugh, um, but it's so much information, like, information overload too and that's a lot.

And I also agree with like the FOMO and like anxiety, like it's just ugh. I, yeah, I've had to definitely cut down on it. I feel like it's such a responsibility to try and keep up things too, like trying to maintain this image and no, no fuck all that. I definitely, yes, I've put time limits on my Instagram specifically, but yeah, I agree.

Yeah, no for sure, I totally agree with this. I think it was like used to connect and now I feel like it's more so used to just make people hooked and like make them stay on these apps for as long as possible regarding, regardless sorry, of content. I think that's kind of not very good. But yeah, the laughing part is a good one. And I think if we can use it for those positive benefits,

Then I think that's great. I also did like, I only follow people I know or people with positive content, quotes or self-development. But most of all, to be fair, I'm following dog accounts and animal accounts because that's what makes me happy. So most of my feed is just that, to be fair. And people might find that weird, but it brings me joy and that's why I want out of life so yeah why not

And I think also if you like sort of restrict it in that way a little bit then you won't need to restrict the usage of it as much because what you're getting is like positive content. Although like obviously it uses up the dopamine and like makes you like a bit addicted at times but at least like what you're consuming is a bit more positive perhaps.

sure agree with you. I feel like it's so crazy. I read a study about the psychological effects of social media and even the creators of these social media apps and stuff, hopefully they had good intentions of it, but little did they know the actual, I guess, repercussions that it would Actually

Sorry, I work at a call center so I get hillocalls but I was gonna say we as humans though are wired to become addicted to something. So you know it's almost like maybe they're into I don't you know people's you never know people's shoe intentions on what they were trying to create out of this. um you know so yeah that's oof

Yeah, no for sure like have you seen the movie the social dilemma? I think it's called that it came out like quite a few years ago, but after I saw that I was like fucking hell like These things are actually so bad for us social media and I think in the beginning it was quite harmful But nowadays they definitely use our psychology against us in order to make us more addicted which is like like insane when you think about it.

And in that movie too, they were like interviewing people that used to have very high positions in these companies and even them were like, oh we would like actually never let our kids use these platforms because we know how damaging it could be and like how much it tries to make you addicted. And since I heard that, I was like, if they're not doing it, then why should anyone? So that was kind of the start of why I started cutting down on it as much as possible.

Social media is basically my second job. Even being on this app is kind of a test thing. So I spend a lot of time posting stuff. I don't spend a lot of time actually on it, like taking in stuff. So yeah, it's good to take breaks for that. I take breaks on weekends, most of the time, or like trips. I was just in Colorado, my one vacation a year, year and I didn't post anything all week which is not normal so

I got you, I got you, and I completely get you. But I mean, well okay, so you must be like a content creator, even with like Instagram or even TikTok too. So I get like taking a break for you would literally kind of be like losing out on money, right? But I get what you're saying too, where it's like, yeah, you just post, post, post, and you don't really, you interact, but like you're not doing it for the aesthetics, like how some that people do, you know?

Yeah, exactly. You're 100% right. And actually, like my personal Instagram, I try to kind of stay off because it does get me depressed sometimes. I mean, he's just this sometimes you get that feeling of missing out and stuff, you know. But yeah, so I mean, and I, most of my friends are on my, my like, my content creator creation channel anyway. But you know, I kind of save it for one day, you know, like one day a week, like catch up on everybody, see how they're doing. But yeah, breaks on taking in what's going on around you is necessary, yeah.

Personally, I haven't been on social media for like two or three years now and I've never looked back. Whereas my partner, she's still on Instagram, Facebook, I mean each to his own right. But yeah, I've definitely seen the benefits being off there.

Definitely teach its own because some people are able to do it for sure And then you know some people they're I mean when I mean like some people are able to just take a break some people they aren't I mean some people it's literally how they advertise their business It's how they make their money whatever the case is so I get that portion of it But I guess just trying to find a healthy balance or do you find like an assistant to do that for you? You know?

My partner and I were coming on two years and we definitely do take breaks from social media. And not because of like, we don't let it run our life, but it can just be so draining and it takes up a lot of our time and we know we have other stuff to do. And so we do take breaks to just kind of be more productive and focus on our mental health than other things that could be more beneficial to us.
