I remember getting my first cell phone as a teenager, but now kids have phones as early as five years old. What age do you deem appropriate to buy the first piece of tech for a child beyond like kiddie tech.

I feel like kids, like I didn't get mine till I was like 16 and I think that's like a decent age because my uncle has like a two year old who knows how to find Coco Melon or whatever the fuck it is on YouTube and this is a baby. This is like a toddler. So I think kids are just getting exposed to too much too soon and it would help if they waited for their kid be a little older.

I agree. I say personally like teenage years are the perfect years. 13 to young, 15 maybe.

Outside of kitty tech I see no reason why a child should have a phone or a tablet like a personal one until they didn't like pretty tell me 11 I mean even then it's pretty early in his face then but unless they are going to school by themselves than they should just have a basic phone with no Internet connection I am And if not then 11:11 loyalty

She got ZipPod and posed a good point. Children who are away from their parents more than eight hours with the world just being the world and all this crazy stuff going on, I could see the benefit of a child having a cell phone very young. And that's it, but a very basic cell phone just for phone calls, nothing for entertainment.

I actually got my first phone in fifth grade and at the time that was like really like not normal compared to you know kids nowadays and how old they are when they have their phones. But my parents mainly gave it to me for safety reasons you know just to make sure where I was, after school and you know just communicate with them throughout the day you know in case anything happened and looking back I'm really thankful. It wasn't a state of the art phone or anything, it was just something to contact them.

But I also want to say, ironically though, I actually was the last one of my group of friends to get a smartphone, like an iPhone, because my parents didn't understand why I wanted social media and internet and all these things that were easily accessible when I had, you know, the computer. And I had to really explain to them that times were changing.

I think whenever your child is going to go more hours and eight hours of a day without you doing activities without your presence or the other parent or another adult I think that's when they should have a phone so like my kids are nine and six I would never give them a cell phone right now because you just going to school you don't do anything else

Ooh, that's a valid point. I was thinking somewhere in the teen years, but I guess for like an insane amount, but for something basic, I definitely could see that.

I remember when the Nokia 3210 came out, my dad actually asked me if I wanted a phone and I was six. And I was the responsible one saying, no, I'm not in any way, I'm not adult enough to have a phone. But then I got one next year for my birthday, for my seventh birthday actually. I had one ever since. You know, nowadays they get so used to tech anyway, that, but you know, it's more the accessibility of things that is scary to me, not really the peace of tech.

This is always, I think for me, kids are just used to tech, so it's not really about the tech and the devices, it's more about the accessibility. I know there's a lot of good work being done in terms of filtering the worldwide web and so on for children, but yeah, I'd be more concerned about what they can do and use the tech 4 but as long as it's saved and you know it's good to get acclimated early.

When you work home from school you need a cell phone. That's it. And it needs to be programmed for those particular tasks, walking home, attempting to be independent. That's it.
