When I think of tanning, I think of large amounts of white people desiring to be dark. When I think of bleaching your skin, I think of large amounts of black people desiring to be light. What's going on here? Is being black desirable or not? Is being white desirable or not? Or is it only desirable by the opposite? Why do so many white people want to be dark and so many dark people want to be light? Where's this confusion really coming from?

I'm actually half Asian and half white so in the winter I'll be more pale and in the summer I'll be more tan and I actually think this is the most stupidest question I've ever heard. So yeah, it was more of a status thing. That I go on holidays, I get tanned. It had nothing to do with becoming black.

And then you said that's a normal thing in Africa for black people to go pale because they're ill. I don't think I've ever seen a black person go pale.

From my point of view, which I could be wrong, the reason why non-melanated people tan is to move away from paleness because it's associated with sickness that could be different for you.
