A lot of people think that you need to confuse your muscles on like a week to week basis by giving your body different exercises to do and to confuse them over time. But I'm here to tell you that that is a myth. I'm a certified personal trainer and nutritionist and just want to let you know this is not a thing. If you want to make progress, you should be progressively overloading with your weights over time. And you know, once something is too easy for you, there's always a way to make something a little more harder, a little more advanced. So that's the best way to do it.
That's funny that you mention that because I had a friend who would always tell me to do that in the gym to confuse my muscles and that I was doing too much of the same work out and that's why I wasn't seeing results the way I wanted and it never made sense to me I was like why don't you just increase your weight like I thought that's what I've been doing and you know whatever and then recently they told me they're like yeah actually I talk to a trainer and that's you know I don't do that anymore because of it doesn't really work and I'm like well yeah
That's super funny and I think it's pretty common. Like I have worked with a lot of other people that have said the same thing and for me as a personal trainer it's kind of hard to work with people that think like that because they already have this idea in their mind and they already think they know the answer so like helping them unlearn that and then learn how to actually make progress is pretty difficult but yeah that is a pretty funny story.
