Let's talk melatonin I'm just curious to know why it's so normalized for a doctors to recommend or prescribe melatonin rather than other natural ways to help your kids get to sleep like magnesium or changing their diet giving them a banana before bed My doctor recommended melatonin today for my three-year-old and I refuse because I've just done my own research and just know that it's not something I want to put in my kids body just because their body naturally produces it and I don't want the natural production to be tampered with because giving them melatonin can't do that What are some ways that you've kept your kid asleep at night without giving the melatonin

I totally agree like I haven't gave my kid melatonin so I think it's just like it's too much like I don't want her to be addicted to sleeping like pills and stuff you know what I mean and yeah I just think it's kind ridiculous that doctors who are OK with giving kids melatonin and there's like other two

Yeah, but what I was saying was like there's other techniques that can be used for sleep remedies for your child other than giving them meltone in, like, I don't know.

So Brett, ADHD is something that's in my family and all of my kids struggled with this. And one of the things with ADHD, number one, you can't have it and not have a genius level IQ. like you're exceptionally smart.

And then we also did make sure that the routine was the same, which was very hard for me with ADHD. So, and I used lavender and aromatherapy and stuff and it helped out a whole ton.

Oh yes, I completely agree. Like I don't feel comfortable giving my kids melatonin. Like my oldest will be eight and I have never gave him melatonin and I haven't even given it to my two-year-old and

And like, I don't see how doctors or other people can say like, it's natural. It's not natural if you have to take something to help you fall asleep and to stay asleep.

Ever since I got in Maya Toddler a sound machine that does like different varieties of like sounds and different kinds of music and it also has lights to where you can change the color.

You can change it to any color because it comes with a lot of colors or you could put it on the setting to where it will dim in and out of all the colors. And yeah, and ever since I've gotten him that, he has been sleeping a lot better.

The other aspect of that is we don't make enough melatonin, so it's highly, highly beneficial. So my youngest, for instance, she's the one I remember most clearly, so I did give her melatonin and it helped her tremendous.

So with my youngest, like I said, I gave her a ballotone and it helped her tremendously. And we had this little projector toy thing that would project shapes up under the ceiling and and then play music. And that also helped her tremendously.

You are super welcome sister I think that that's one of the things we women need to do more of is like then together and share our experiences and share stories because I can remember being a young mom and trying to research

And it was just overwhelming and what I've learned is, you know, matter what you're looking for, you can find scientific studies or anecdotal evidence to back it up. And then it's like, okay, what's the right, what's the best thing to do for my kid? it can be super overwhelming.
