I definitely feel like romance is one of those things that's pushed onto relationships a lot and it's almost like it's necessary in order to have a healthy relationship. But at the same time, I feel like there's so many people in the world who just aren't romantic people, and that's OK.

I 100% agree. I'm quite romantic. I enjoy romance in my relationships. I'm polyamorous. I have a wife and a girlfriend and I enjoy that side of it. But yeah, it's not for everyone and I agree. That's okay.

I am also polyamorous and I think that's what kind of helped me see the other side to people that don't value relationships as much or romance as much too.

Yeah, so I had a partner for about a year that ended not that long ago and it ended well, it ended amicably. We weren't romantic, we were kinky and sexual but yeah there was no romance so yeah that opened my eyes to it a bit.

Oh my god, oh my god. I'm also Polly and to be honest I think that a lot of us never learn the correct way of romance.

That's absolutely true. There are some people that haven't been shown love a certain way when they're a kid or anything. But I also feel like if you're naturally just a romantic person, it just can come to you. It just comes to you by itself. That's why I feel like some people just are not romantic.

But even also in that light, we have to always remember that whatever we are or whoever we become, sometimes is a direct reflection of our parents and our upbringing. So if we didn't get it...

So if we didn't get it, it's kind of hard to, you know, like, become it. You know? And some of us aren't even willing to really learn who we are as a person, as a person also from the teaching of our parents.

Yeah, and that's ultimately like what the point is I'm trying to get across. Like not everybody grew up with romance or not everybody was shown love or certain type of acts of services. And if romance is not for you then that's okay.

How can you be romantic if there's nothing to be romantic about? And who defines what romanticism is? What if there's not a flower shop or a chocolate shop? Or you don't have money?

I feel like ultimately it's up to each individual to decide what is romance to them and whether or not they want romance or not. And romance is not always just physical things, it's more of a mentality as well. So that's why I think not everyone is romantic.

I feel like it just comes down to your love languages. So I could be loving somebody and feel like I'm doing my best to show them that I love them but they may not be receiving it that way because they have a different love language than me.

I understand that, but I think love and romance are two completely different things. You can show someone that you love them and still not be romantic with them.

So I disagree with this and here's why. It depends on how you view romance because are you talking about giving flowers and little gestures or are you talking about treating someone well because that's romantic to some people. So let's go into it a little bit more.

So personally, I'm a romantic. I like to give gifts, I like receiving flowers, I like you know like little moments of oh oh that was so sweet, you know. My husband on the other hand doesn't understand romance at all. You could even say he's not romantic.

And yet to me, he is romantic. Why? Because for example, if I wake up at 3am in the morning and I'm hungry, I can literally shake him awake and he was like yeah babe I'll go make you some food. That to me is romantic and it's just what you view.

So all in all, the main what I'm trying to say here is that as long as you feel respected and loved in a relationship and you're getting everything that you need, that's romantic.

As long as you're putting in effort for your partner, depending on what their love language is, you're giving them love the way they understand it, that is true romance and that is needed in every relationship.

I understand where you're coming from, but there's a difference between love languages and romance. And like I said in my other replies, romance is definitely a subjective thing. It's different to each individual, but then there are aromantic people too.

And the main reason I put up the poll in general was just to bring awareness to the fact that people can be aromantic and not everyone realizes that they might be aromantic.

But yeah, that's all in all just to say that I think especially nowadays because of mainstream media romance is pushed onto a lot of different relationships and More people might end up being a romantic than we actually think
