I actually don't think dating apps are really good for society because the whole point of a business is to have a sustainable model that you can keep doing. If they actually most of the time worked for people, then they would lose all their business.

I think you bring up such an interesting point, Blaine. I do agree, but I'm also thinking about these other apps like Mozmatch, or apps for religious folks, which are about marriage, and it makes me think how this industry is expanding and now we have all these categories.

So the good thing about specialist things is that definitely you could meet people that you couldn't otherwise meet. But the bad thing is still the same, right? It's that for them to have an active player base and actually exist as a company, they have to fail most of the time.

Yeah, I agree. And when you top it up with the fact that if you are someone who does not conform to the mainstream, so if you are not white or if you're not thin or whatever, then it becomes even harder. You're essentially scraping the barrel on these out.

Oh, God, it's always my bad luck. Whenever I try to find a genuine partner for a long distance relationship, it's always my bad luck God.

Yeah, because finding someone genuine is already hard enough and when you add long distance to it, it just gets worse, right? Because even though I am not necessarily long distance, I do take my time meeting and people consider that long distance and don't like that.

I haven't personally but I know friends that have so I feel like it is just sort of putting yourself out there and seeing if you can find someone.

Yeah, I have people around me who've met and then are even getting married and they've met on dating apps But I also feel like it depends on what kind of a person you are if you're someone who conforms to two societal standards of attractiveness or not.

And also as dating apps go, Hinge is definitely the one.
