Have always want to have like a mom who is my best friend but who has also set boundaries with me and like that's the type of mom that I am I can tell I'm becoming just because like I didn't have that growing up just like sitting here thinking like I just wanna how are you supposed to be a best friend to your daughter or to your child and set those boundaries and discipline them from right to wrong I feel like they may not even want to be that close with me if you know what I mean I don't know like I know I want to set those boundaries and discipline I guess I do in a positive way I don't I'm just like in my own headspace right now

I'm a firm believer that you can be a friend to your child while also being a parent just by like gentle parenting and setting boundaries but also making it clear that like you're a safe space and you want to understand them and help them you know learn and grow

Honestly love those like I've always wanted to be really close to my mom going out but we obviously had to have that close relationship I am but that's just something I want for my daughter

I'm not my children's best friend, but I am the line that stands behind them. I am the safe space in the hurricane. know they can come to me for anything and about anything and I will always be there.

I love this. I hope my daughter will come to me after like anything were to happen, you know, and her just to know that I will be there for her and I'll be there to protect her and, you know, and it'll be her backbone as well.

I totally understand what you mean and that is also the kind of mom that I would love to be I think just growing up it's very like I needed to kind of like teach them like you know I am your best friend but I'm also looking out for you if I make it

Yes I deafly makes sense it's just I feel like it might be a little hard you know so she's only two so I think she just has a car to my understanding that but yeah that's definitely something that I'm going to implement and deal

I definitely want to become the parent that my son is not afraid to come to with anything but he also knows that we have boundaries to be set and things not to do and what we should do.

My mom always bounced between I'm your parent, I'm not your best friend, I'm not your friend, and then I'm your best friend, I'm your only friend. So I don't know. It never worked out.

Maybe it's just because in our personal scenario, she was using those two terms relative to gaining control in a situation better. Oh

But I don't, in my personal opinion, I would never tell my son, hey, I'm your friend, I'm your best friend. I only want him to know that I'm his mother and just have that friendly relationship and have that strong relationship without labeling it as friend.

I totally agree with you because there is a thin line between you know parenthood and authority you know if you want to be seen as a best friend

Probably your kids won't see you as an authority and won't like follow the rules you give them it's just a perception that I have

My mom and I are definitely best friends now growing up I felt like I really couldn't tell her much because all my friends didn't have good relationships with their moms but definitely being older and being a mom myself I have a really good relationship with my mom

I had my daughter at 19 so I feel like I might have that best friend relationship with her especially because I'm a stay at home mom I work from home so I'm always with her and I just want her to know if she can tell me anything all the time
