Alright, so I've been having a debate with one of my friends recently and we were talking about ghosting. I personally think ghosting isn't okay to do, but she thinks it is. So help me figure this out. Is ghosting ever okay to do?
I think it is sort of acceptable if they're like sociopathic behavior and stuff because you know doesn't deserve any attention, then they would need to be ghosted.
I totally respect where you're coming from. It's actually interesting that you're speaking up for this as a guy because most of the time when I hear about ghosting stories, it's always from a woman. So yeah, I really appreciate you putting in your two cents about this.
I came to the comments to say this exact same thing. It's all about like are you doing it to protect yourself or are you doing it to like get back at somebody because the second one would not be healthy.
Exactly, and going in further on the protecting yourself part, some people are doing it because they were physically or mentally harmed, and honestly with that I believe you do not owe anyone an answer, but there are some people who choose not to commit more time to this percent.
I think it I think it depends on the situation like if someone's being a total creep and like they just don't take no as an answer then yeah that's totally fine I ghost him but if they didn't do anything wrong you're just not interested and it's kind of fucked up
I really appreciate how you brought up how some people will not take no for an answer. They will not accept it and that's really scary and like knock on wood. I just want everyone here here to be healthy and happy regardless of how they move forward.
I agree with you thank you said if they're just creeps and they take no for an answer then yes I am just ghosting they don't understand and then but if they're not then I think they should let them know
So I definitely think if you're talking to someone or starting to get to know someone and you're not interested anymore, you should definitely talk to that person and let them know straight up instead of making them believe that there's a chance.
Exactly, that's what I was telling a bunch of my friends because when you just ghost, I always say what goes around comes around. So I personally like to send a message, let them know it's not going to work out and wish them the best. And if it was for a bad reason, I block them after so I don't see their reply.
So I might contradict myself on this one, but that's okay. I ghost people, but I also believe people deserve an explanation. And so I may not give one at that time, but later on down the line, I do.
See that's why I don't ghost people because whether it's for a job or you know dealing with a friendship or or even someone I'm in a potential relationship with, I just can't cut it cool, turkey like that. like I have to explain.
I'm right there with you. That's why it's exactly my reason of having this post because I feel like not enough people just talk things out They just ghost and it's a big pet peeve of mine when people ghost like just talk to people communicate
Exactly telling the truth because yes the truth hurts, but it's better to know now than later on You know what I mean? Like just communicate. I feel communication is key
I don't think ghosting is ever okay to do, whether it's dating, friends, even jobs, right? Interviews, like, get back to that person. Everyone's ego is going to be bruised a little bit, but where human decency is necessary.
I really love how you brought in job applications and even you know rental applications You know I've known people that haven't gotten ghosted in all aspects of life and I feel like it's never okay because what goes around comes around So that's just like my belief system. I'm spiritual so that explains it.
So where my friend was coming from was that not everyone is entitled to you, like access is a privilege, which I do understand, but I feel like you gotta let them know why they can't have access. I think that's important.
Um, yes, I mean, I couldn't tell you how many countless times that there would have been trouble or issues if Danny Phantom hadn't gone ghost. Like a going ghost that's like literally his
I like your car depends on my situation like of course it's like there's a creep by time I get to do you like obviously ghost him but if there's like just like random then I don't think it's OK like I'm gonna skip anomaly but yeah
Yeah, I see where you're coming from because if someone's threatening your physical or mental health, then of course you don't own an answer. But if you're just ghosting someone that you were talking to for quite a while, then yeah, I feel like an explanation is needed.
Yeah, I agree. Somebody else was mentioning that if they're being creepy, then yeah, you have the right to ghost them. So I kind of get where you're coming from.
