Is it better to provide drug addicts with treatment or punishment?

If anybody should be punished, I think it should be the the doctors that get people addicted to pain medications it should be the lawmakers that That make it Lawful to sell alcohol Things like that if we're gonna punish somebody let's punish the ones that are really responsible for the addictions themselves

The only thing that sucks about this question is that in the US our treatment and our punishment are both not great systems you know so you almost have to kind of like imagine like the utopian best-case scenario of treatment and punishment and I do believe there are some people where punishment is what

yeah so while I do believe that there are certain people it's a number of people that punishment is actually going to be the thing to get through the through to them because everyone is different however a lot of times the punishment for drug charges is just like disproportionate and overall yeah I would definitely I do think treatment is a better option for the majority of individuals

Addicts should be given an opportunity for treatment. Nobody wakes up one morning and decides they wanna be an alcoholic or a heroin addict or addicted to anything. Life happens to people sometimes and they all deserve treatment. And more times than not, it's doctors that get people hooked on medications that they get addicted to. That's my view.
