Hi guys, I'm a huge reader and something I love to do is read two physical books, one nonfiction, one fiction, and also listen to an audible. What really got me into audible was Reese Witherspoon's book club, which is fantastic if you haven't started reading their books. But I was talking to my roommate today about audible and audiobooks in general, and she was saying that she doesn't count that as reading. Do you guys agree? I feel like that's wrong and ableist, like it's a different experience but it's for sure reading. There's some books that I would way rather listen to on Audible, like so many, for so many reasons. memoirs or books that are really heavy and I don't want to carry around. What do you think?

Why are we demonizing anybody who's listening to or slash reading books?

I don't know I think audiobooks can count because like what if you don't have like the physical book with you or like you can't find it anywhere and you want to read it like ASAP so like I think like books and audiobooks like both count

I'm reading an actual book paper by paper and audio is the way different reading a book from paper and paper you actually have to like be in the moment when it comes to audio you can do whatever you want to read

Meaning when you actually read a book paper by paper you have to be in the moment you have to be more imaginative I think when it comes to audio it's just like when you listen

It's like when you listen to a podcast you can listen to a podcast and make some food and whatever and still listen but when you actually read a book paper by paper you have to be in the moment and you have to be there and do nothing else

How do you books are dope? I think it depends. Like as long as you're consuming stories, I think that's what matters, right? Who carries how you do it?

I couldn't agree with you more. I don't even understand the argument for them not being books. like what do you mean?

I think each method has its own madness and you know every book or written novel or non-written shouldn't be consumed only in that way so each person is different that's what I do
