One of the biggest things that I've noticed that has gotten brought up so many times is sharing your location with other people. I'm talking about your partner, your friends, your family, so that they have tabs on where you are at all times. And I want to ask, are you fine with sharing your location on your phone with others? Because I know people that are totally fine with it and others that think it's way too personal. I will say for me, I am fine doing it. It just really depends who the person is. I'm not gonna just give out my location to just anyone and the reason being is that you know, I'm a private person and That's just how I am And I don't feel like like 37 of my friends need to know I'm at the grocery store but With my family. Yeah, of course 100% totally fine doing that And actually one of my relatives she doesn't live where I am she goes somewhere else she got her phone stolen and she had her location on and the person who stole her phone actually didn't know that. So her parents were calling the phone non-stop, her sister, her boyfriend, and they were able to track the phone back to someone's house. So she showed up to get the phone back and because she had the location on that's how she was able to get the phone back instead of going to buy a new one. So it helped her out. So I know people who have it on for that purpose. But yeah, I would love to hear your experience.
So and yeah that's really interesting too the story that you told where somebody stole your friend's phone and they were able to find it. Yeah just FYI Google Maps you can turn on your location history and then that's really convenient if you have an Android. I think you can do it with iPhone as well as well but you can go back and actually look at you know your entire location history for however you know long you haven't activated so you can go back and say where was I on a certain day, how long you were there, etc.
Additionally, like so, I'm a super nerd right power user, so I have this setting that I configured on my phone where if I send my phone as a text message with a certain combination, you know, like hashtag where are you, and it comes from, you know, a specific number like my mom or anything like that, you know, my dad, whatever, it will actually respond back to me with the GPS coordinates of where my phone is. so they can get and you know the wifi is connected to all kinds of info.
God, it's really frustrating to only be able to post 30 seconds at a time and now I feel kind of like a nuisance because I just want to leave a good comment. Anyways, last comment, but yeah, with the automation thing, I'm using an app called Tasker, which is the best app for Android. You know, again, hopefully, you know, you're an iPhone user and I'm just kind of like about using this nonsense but yeah really amazing stuff we can do with our phones today.
Okay, I want to address your comment because first of all, you are not a nuisance or anything like that. I really appreciate all the time and energy you took to answer these comments. And yeah, it is annoying how it like only lets you talk 30 seconds at a time, but I really, really, really appreciate you sticking around and answering this. And I have to agree with you fully, like the way that all of this is, especially with what you just said about Tasker, I'm going to look into that so thank you.
Well obviously cause like water from about to die and they don't know where I'm at and I have my location and like what if I got kidnapped never still have my location so that's just like not that bad
It really depends on the person, like if it's somebody that I know in real life or go to school with, that's fine. but like someone on the internet? Fuck no.
