So the topic is the average child is 10 years old getting a cell phone. I was always team, no my child's never getting a cell phone until she's able to pay for that cell phone because I was 15 working and paying for my cell phone because that was just how it worked you know that's how my dad was and my mom was and that's just was the rule and that's was going to be the rule for my kid but um my significant other was like no we're going to get every a cell phone and she got a cell phone two years ago. She starts middle school in sixth grade next year and she starts cheer and with half of the school having a cell phone and you know them being in school longer hours and yeah the rules just not safe anymore. Yeah I think a cell phone is smart and I think the average is probably 10 or at least middle school, sixth grade. That would be like 10, 11. So that makes sense. Um, my youngest now has her iPad that she's had forever. Um, so I did tell her that when she does start working at age 15 or 16, depending on whenever I decide, um, she will be paying for that because, um, nothing comes free in this world and she's going to do exactly what I did as a child. or teenager. So yeah, it's free now but it won't be free then. So yeah, average is 10, I think. So that's my take on the cell phone. But my child is not attached to the phone at all. I will add that. My kids love to be outside more than they are attached to the phone or the iPad. Anyway, so that's my take.

So I remember I was 12 I think when I got my first phone but I mean there weren't smart phones back then but I mainly got a phone so I could call my parents with sports or whenever I went to a friends house or my dad's house And I guess when my children come to that age I am not going to do a smart phone it's going to be like a regular phones that they can just call and text on just because

Just because there's so many dangers I mean you can put so many protective this and that on there and who knows what kind of technology is going to be around at that time when my kids get to that age but that's just my take on it

There are phones out there in my friends my friend has her daughter a phone I cannot remember for the life of me what that phone is but it literally is a phone that is a car and a tax phone and that's it there's no Internet there's no games there's nothing on it she can call and text your mom and that's it because well honestly that's all they need they don't need all the other things as long as you're able to communicate to your child you know
I agree with that the kids need to have some kind of responsibility before they leave home because nothing is cheap and I don't want my kids to learn the hard way I've had them learn as this at home with me so I can teach them

Amen sister teach him to pay the bills before they leave the house because that's what he's going to do she didn't like hearing that for just that's just too bad she gonna learn today she gonna learn then I mean

I was 16 when I got my first phone and it was a Boost Mobile chirp phone and I had to babysit to be able to pay for it myself because my parents did not want to do that.

See and that's the thing I think we all grew up like our parents made us pay for our phones and we grew up in that way and I feel like I want my daughter to be that way because look how we turned out we leave group to be very responsible people you know nothing was given to us we have to earn it we had to work for that you know so I'm glad to see other people or like me
I don't have my first phone until high school and I feel like my son's definitely gonna have a phone before then only because of like how kids communicate now is just so different from like how we did then and if I would just feel safer to to like be able to communicate with him when like I'm not around him and I feel like tens around the age when that will probably happen

Most definitely and I say that because my daughters 10 gonna be 11 she's going to middle school next year and I'm like every child has a phone and every child like when they left cheer or football or soccer or whatever they're doing they get on their phone they're calling their mom hey come pick me up hey Bubba blah blah my kid never have to worry about that cause I'm always in the parking lot because I'm home I'm a helicopter mom so of course I'm there but yeah definitely need one
Um, yeah, I feel like a 10 year old's fine.

Um, as a parent, I think I got my son his first cell phone when he was maybe about 10 or 11. It was hard to, hard to think. I know he's had it for a while. And I think they, um, they come in handy if they're used right. And I mean, in 2023, there's so many ways to get a cell phone where they can just make phone calls and that's it. We know it's needed.
So it's some of your secret for cell phone and they were going to high school that was a game changer and I remember having to use my my parents cell phone to make certain calls and things like that I'm in those rollover minutes if you get those rollover minutes
I think nowadays you got to give your child a cell phone just to be in contact with them yeah I know back and well when I was younger I didn't get one till I was 15 Yeah and it was one of those big ones too but I'm yeah it's just there's a part of the game now everybody needs to be in contact with you and it's if it's safer you know I live and then you could turn on find my phone at least know where they are
Funny story I was actually 20 years old when I got my first cell phone that's kind of crazy but yeah full-blown adult I'm in college out of the house 20 years old before I had a cell phone but things these days like you feels like you want your kids to have a cell phone just so you can know where they are and they can get a hold of you and you know there's say if it's like a safety thing more than them being able to chat with their friends you know
ะžั‚ะฒะตั‚ะธั‚ัŒ
