So I was going across some Disney movies that I was trying to find for my toddlers to watch and I don't really watch movies very often but I was just kind of scrolling through and I saw all of the movies that I used to watch like growing up but I did here I think it was from like a Twitter thread or some thing that a lot of the Disney movies today come with like contact warnings I didn't even know that so like they're some people sad like a lot of these Disney movies had a ton of like sexualization racism kind of like things that are kind of like misogynistic And I don't know what do you think do you would you allow your kids to watch these types of movies if you knew the kind of they had in it I don't for me I don't know yeah I don't think my kids are old enough to really understand what's going on I mean I grew up watching these and I had no idea that they even had things like that in them But yeah what do you think do you think that we subconsciously kind of grew up with that mindset I don't I don't even know cause like a lot of people are saying that Dumbo was like one of the worst ones and I don't even know why but I know beauty and the beast was on there Peter Pan little mermaid things you know like super common Disney movies but yeah let me know what you think and if you were still allow your kids to watch those likeness shop nostalgic movies that we watched growing up let me know
I have to do more research on this because I grew up watching all Disney movies and I've even watched them an older age and haven't really noticed anything that crazy maybe I'm just freaking blind but I'll have to do that
Yeah, and I also did too. So that's why half of me is like, I don't really care because I never caught it. And like you said, even as an adult, I haven't caught it really. But yeah, I guess it's just what society influences you to do a lot of crazy things.
Yeah so there's nothing too crazy but there are some things that are racially offensive like a Lady and the tramp that we are Siamese song like there is a racist Asian caricatures and in Peter Pan the Native Americans
I do let my kids watch Disney movies and the Disney Channel I also watch with them all the time the only movie I don't let them watch from Disney is Pocahontas because that is not her true story and I refuse to let them watch that
So I let my kiddos watch Disney as well, and I honestly didn't know about this, but I've never come across it with any of the movies I do let them watch. The main movies they watch are like Cars, is Moana and...
Yeah so it's mostly with the older Disney movies like if you put on Peter Pan it's going to have a contact warning because of the racist native American caricatures and was Lady and the tramp the Siamese cats and with Dumbo one of the crows being named Jim crow
Actually a really good question I feel like a V I'll be interesting to watch movies now that I'm older because I have a watch a Disney movie now that I'm older to kind of understand the concept but better so I feel like
Honestly, it just depends because I know like some of them can have like hidden, I don't know like meanings behind them. that us parents might not catch sometimes but for the most part I think if we're sitting and watching them with them, it's okay.
