Good morning Seri what's Mrs. Smitty with today's true crime headline this morning Leslie Van Houten walked out of prison after spending more than 50 years behind bars for the brutal killings of Leno and Rosemary la Bianka as part of the Manson family crime spree in the 1960s at the time of the murder she was 19 years old and she was sentenced to death for her part in the killings in the 1970s when the Supreme Court ruled that the death penalty was unconstitutional her death sentence was committed to a life in prison with the possibility of parole And she has been recommended for parole now five times in this fifth time the governor of California decided not to contest her release and so this morning she walked out of jail she'll be on parole for three years and then allowed to reenter society so for today in this clip I would love to hear your opinions on the death penalty on releasing convicted murderers is there a length of sentence that is long enough can you prove yourself worthy of release after committing such a heinous crime And then please join Scotty and I later today for an in-depth discussion of this case of Leslie Van Houten time behind bars and of the ethics of the death penalty thanks

Um death penalty oh wow so it's hard because like she was 19. Killing is killing right? A lot has changed in 50 years with a person who did not have a fully developed brain. I'm not sure how much I believe in death penalty. Hold on I'm gonna spin the block on my own time.
