I share pretty openly about the fact that my three-year-old son is autistic and hyper Leksich hyperlexia is basically an affinity for letters and words reading so for example right after my son turned to I discovered that he could identify all the letters by let her name and let her sound he didn't speak at all at the time he's almost 3 1/2 now and he still doesn't speak at all so I've had to find creative ways to figure out what he knows For example I will lay out 40 flashcards of words and say where is the word such and such and he will identify the word correctly or I'll use alphabet manipulatives or even a keyboard he can spell words and type words on a keyboard so the reason I share about this is because a lot of times we hear about the struggles of autism and I just want to show that there is a beautiful brilliance that comes along with autism as well of course every case is different every individual is different but in my experience autism is just not something to hide it's not something to shine and I hope that someday there will be such an acceptance of it that we can just incorporate autistic individuals Into our lives just regularly without a second thought so that is why I share and I hope it's helpful and informational for you guys
