Good morning. Happy Tuesday, everyone. I hope that you all had a fantastic weekend. Hours went through Monday because my daughter didn't have school yesterday, and today is her 15th birthday, which is super awesome. So, we talk a lot about, I talk a lot about technology, and I've mentioned before that technology is more than just electronics, right? And so this app that The Secret to Money was recommended to me by Mindy Sarton, and a friend of mine, because one of the things I've been working on doing is healing my relationship with money. And there's a story to that. I come from money, grew up thinking we were poor, whenever I was old enough to realize that we weren't, I just realized that everyone was miserable. And so I guess at some point I decided that I didn't want to have money if it meant being miserable. And then the only times that I've had like massive significant chunks of money was when my husband was murdered and then my grandpa, my dad's dad, died. And yeah, so just a lot of baggage around that. And I also realized that I don't really understand money. I don't, I'm terrified of it. I try to make good decisions. And even whenever I make the good decision, it blows up in my face, like buying real estate in the Seattle area shortly before the housing bubble burst. And, you know, just, oh my God. So, you know, she recommended this app and I used it, not, you know, religiously, but it doesn't really seem to be helping. So I'm curious to know, does anyone else struggle with money, like their relationship with money? Are you afraid of it? Do you, like, how do you try to understand it? I try to read finance books or try to like learn. And it just like makes me feel like a fucking idiot. So help me because I would love to heal this relationship and welcome in crazy amounts of abundance that is financial. And that's a little bit of my hippie side. More on that later.
I forgot to post the other one. I guess I will do that today. Oops! But it's... anyway, yeah, so I'm glad you're into this kind of stuff. geek out on it quite a bit actually.
Yeah, so I have a bunch of money blocks and what really helped me wasn't any of this like affirmation stuff, it was actually doing it. And I had to like make money and normalize the amount.
So for me, I would start with smaller amounts. So let's say pick an amount that gets your nervous system worked up and start there, where it's just a little bit uncomfortable. So like let's say for you that would be like a hundred dollars.
So I would start charging and selling things for $100 until it stopped triggering my nervous system. So it was like an amount that's a little uncomfortable but doesn't feel impossible. And then once that becomes normal, I increase the amount. and I just go through that until like higher amounts of money feel normal to me.
Like right now I make UGC content and I started charging like $25 for a video or something like that and now I just booked a $2,000 client and when I first started that would have seemed so overwhelming to me I would have been like freaked out by that and probably would have lost the job But because I built it up, like now that amount seems fine. It doesn't trigger me.
But the reason why I say like the affirmations didn't work was because the money blocks were my nervous system like responding to money as being scared. So it didn't matter how much I read about how money's good or anything like that. Like I actually had to throw myself in there and like physically desensitize myself to money instead of just like reading about they were doing affirmations.
This is the last one I promised, but if you look up Genevieve Rackam, she has a Facebook group, but that was where I started to really like get into the work of normalizing higher amounts of money.
I lied, I have one more thing to say. There's a book called The Abundance Project by Derek Rydel and it talks about a money loop. So you have to keep all avenues of money open. So there's like giving, donations, earning, saving, like different aspects of what to do with money. And so if if money stops coming to you, he argues that something...
something in that overall like cycle is stopped up so like maybe you haven't donated in a long time so if you realize that like you feel like you need to hold on to money then like donate some of it and kind of like it's hard to explain I just recommend you get the book because that is like something that I live by now is just keeping that cycle of money going.
I love this idea and I've been doing that but like even I have stuff like furniture for sale for like $75 that would easily sell for $150 and it's just It's not selling. Like nothing is selling. It's crazy. It's absolutely crazy.
See you and I did that before I like by the time I was 28 I donated over $100,000 him and then went battling there I put another hundred out you know what I mean like I have God then way more than I have received and other than like inheritance you know inheritance and stuff like that so but thank you thank you I don't wanna be like a Debbie downer I'm just like bro I'm so frustrated about it right now
