I used to make dumplings from scratch when I was a teenager with a whole head of cabbage and a bunch of grilled bits of chicken and then you just make a slaw with that and then and stuff the dumplings, fry and boil them.

Make some coleslaw and you could look up some pickling recipes that you could save it and enjoy it over the next you know couple weeks or longer
