hello what's up everyone and welcome to today's reality check. Myth or reality to commit a crime not only must a person engage in a harmful act he or she must do so intentionally. Unintentional acts don't count. Myth or reality? Welcome back to Reality Check. There's been no comments, so I'm going to go ahead with the answer. It is a myth. Although most common law crimes require intent, strict liability crimes do not have a mental requirement. Telling a police officer you did not intend to be speeding when you were stopped on the highway does not help you avoid a ticket. So yeah, it's a myth. See you next time on Reality Check.
