Hi guys, I'm a huge reader and something I love to do is read two physical books, one nonfiction, one fiction, and also listen to an audible. What really got me into audible was Reese Witherspoon's book club, which is fantastic if you haven't started reading their books. But I was talking to my roommate today about audible and audiobooks in general, and she was saying that she doesn't count that as reading. Do you guys agree? I feel like that's wrong and ableist, like it's a different experience but it's for sure reading. There's some books that I would way rather listen to on Audible, like so many, for so many reasons. memoirs or books that are really heavy and I don't want to carry around. What do you think?

Yeah, that's completely ableist, but you know what I love? I love reading and listening at the same time. It enhances. It's like it's less fatiguing. Oh, I love it.

Oh my god, I love that too. And I also sometimes when I listen to a really good audible, I'll get it on like hardcover because I'm like I want this book. It's fantastic. I love stories. I must have it.

Prepare to love me forever. Here is the best book rec ever. Lincoln and the Bardo written by George Saunders and the audio book is one of the best pieces of art I've ever heard. One more memo.

Who's best friends with the author, George Saunders? Oh, Nick Hofferman. And so the 166 characters are played by he and his wife, Megan Mullally, Julianne Moore, Don Cheadle, Rainn Wilson, Susan Sarandon, Ben Stiller.

Bill Hader, Mary Carr, Jeffrey Tambor, Kate Jennings, Jeff Tweedy, I think even, who do you, what's the girl from Girls? Oh shit, well it's 166 people so I can't list them all. Forget the audio book, but get the book.

You have to read along and because of how it's written it's an experimental novel. It's his first novel. He's one of the best short story writers ever. It won the Booker Prize and also just yeah maybe you're already on it but just thought I'd share. Yeah.

I hate audiobooks. I need the actual, I need the paper cuts. I need the smell of the cover so I can judge that shit.

I fully understand that I like physical books better but there's just some things that are impossible to do physical books like a half of like Stephen kings books are so heavy I can't carry that on my bag how are you book it

I think reading a book physically, I think it does something for your mind. I think it's a way of learning that your mind grasps more. but I personally listen to audiobooks just for the sake of time and convenience.

I do like books better but for certain things I think audible is fantastic I don't think it's necessarily bad or doesn't count it's just different

Well, if your friend wants to be silly, then yeah, technically it's not reading. I don't think anybody said that it's literally reading.

This is Leah, that sounded so petty. And I agree with you, and I love it. So I'll be playing it for her and I'll let you know what she says. I think you're right. I agree with you. 1000%.

I'm a big fan of audiobooks so I'm gonna agree with your roommate because you're not reading it, you're not looking at any pages or turning any pages you're actually just listening to the book being read to you. So it doesn't count.

See I get near coming from but I don't agree because like I have a very limited amount of time and I love books I love reading but I can't read in public transportation that makes me really dizzy so what I can do is audible and I think that's reading

Yeah I'm the reason you said that is because audible is fucking reading like there's a bunch of people that would rather build be listening to like I don't fucking know Dua Lipa instead of to book and no shape to miss Dua Lipa I love her but you know what I mean
