So, um, my husband is a smart man for the most part, but long story short, we got six chicks that we thought were hens a while ago, and turns out four months later we found out that we had five hens and a rooster. And it was like late spring, early summer, two years ago, and I went out to the chicken coop area with my husband and I noticed that two of the hens were sitting on the eggs and I'm like, how long have they been doing that? He's like, oh a couple weeks. And I'm like, we have a rooster. Do we think that's a good idea? This man looked at me and went, honey, you need a heat lamp and an incubator in order for that to happen. Now I don't know what science class he failed. Um What how does he think chickens happened before the invention of the heat lamp and the incubator Needless to say He FaceTimed me on father's day with a brand new baby chicken his hand Because in fact you do not need an incubator and a heat lamp To create baby chicks if you have a mommy chicken and a daddy chicken. So we wound up with 12 beautiful, beautiful chickens. And unfortunately we had four roosters so they got re-homed and now my sister has the other eight remaining hens that are fat and plump and happy. But we learned our lesson because we haven't had a giant batch of oops ever since then.
