I mean, everyone's different, like, you can go through being friends first before you go into, like, dating and all that, right? But, it just, I don't know, it just seems proper, like, awkward when you're, like, friend-zoned and then out of the friend-zone and then you're dating and it just seems awkward, right?

To me, I think you're better off going for someone else and then try and be nice. Don't be a dick, obviously, but try and be nice. Try and be flirty with them and then if it doesn't work out between you's, I'd say then stop trying to be flirty.
