An event that happened in my life that led me into the person that I am and still be coming was going through my separation and eventual divorce. Learned a lot about myself, a lot of self discovery.
Like a time in my life that was a change of point was when I got my driver license and at that same time I had to take care of my grandma and take her to her appointments. That was something new for me. It was a new responsibility that I had to prepare for mentally.
Not just mentally, but also physically. I had to make sure I was up on time, had to make sure I helped her get changed, helped her get to appointment, had to make sure I got her medicine, had to cook for her, had to put her in bed, had to wake her up. So I had to do many different things.
Which at the time, before doing all that, I would say that I was very much so immature for like my age. Because at the time I was what, like 19? Like I had just turned 19. And I was like, man, like I was always playing video games.
I wasn't even working at the time, but I was always just, you know, doing that besides school. And I was like, okay, like this is a big change for me though, because you know, it's, it's basically responsibility though. So like it basically what made me more responsible and more mature.
I got all my stuff that I needed. I started working. I started doing it full time and then my grandma held up and I went back to school like in the state that I was in because I had to travel to school, but it was a big improvement.
That experience, I noticed I had a lot more freedom, like even being able to go to the places that I wanted to, because before that I used to catch the bus or walk or Uber.
I believe my changing point was when I became a caregiver for my mom. Everything changed. My outlook on life changed. My outlook on death and losing loved ones changed.
Being a caregiver really allowed me to adapt to my environment at a faster rate than a lot of people these days. I can make quick decisions to help the person that I'm taking care of. And that is a skill you want to have.
And no matter what environment I am situated in, I can always find my way out and I can always deal with the consequences of life in a more mature way that I have before.
