So a creator I follow who happens to be a doctor was posting about how she finds it obnoxious and really irritating when parents bring children to appointments and then play very loudly either music or cartoons or games on a tablet or a phone or some kind of device just out in the open air for everyone to hear. And she had commented, like, how do you parents, like, isolate that noise and just tune it out? And a bunch of parents were commenting, oh, you know, we just compartmentalize and, you know, as long as they're entertained, blah, blah, blah. And basically just reaffirming what I feel all the time, which is like, oh, so you're content being a totally rude asshole as long as your kid's entertained. Fuck you. Just because you can ignore your kid doesn't mean that I can. Headphones exist for children and so I commented on this fucking post under one of these parents who had said oh You know as long as my kid is entertained and and they're busy for a second. I just tune it out I said headphones exist for children. They went the fuck off on me saying headphones exist for adults Why are you getting so defensive and angry blah blah blah first of all you're clearly the one getting defensive and angry Second of all, I have spent hundreds of dollars on headphones because assholes like you exist every fucking where I go and I do have to tune you out. When I go to the grocery store, when I go to the doctor, when I go to the fucking post office, when I go to Target, I have fucking headphones in because of your shit bird kid. Because your kid is two and refuses to wear headphones. We all fucking grew up going to Target without a device. Your kid can survive either not having it or putting headphones in because other people exist. Jesus Christ. We live in a society, okay?

And people wonder why teachers have progressively been having a harder time with their students. Like, that parent is like the reason why. That is one of the reasons why.
