How fast is hypersonic? Well it's about five times the speed of sound. Remember the Concorde? That went about Mach 2 about 1500 miles per hour. Yet you had the Lockheed SR-71, the Blackbird, which I thought was awesome. That went at Mach 3.2. But now a company called Venus Aerospace is building a hypersonic plane. It might carry about 12 people and it's gonna travel at Mach 9, 9 times the speed of sound. That sounds insane to me. That's about 6,900 miles per hour. That's insane. Think about New York to Tokyo in about an hour. There's other companies working on the same thing. There's a company called Sierra Space. It's building the Dream Chaser. That's a Mach 5 aircraft.
