All right so for those of you that don't know Instagram is releasing a subscription where you can pay $15 a month to become verified what do you guys think about this I personally think that this is the worst move that Instagram could possibly make but they're gonna make a ton of money from it let me know what you think
Man, to be honest, I think that this is a bad idea. I know that it was a fail on Twitter, but they kept it going. It's just like so many spam accounts and fake accounts are now able to get verified. So they're going to look more legit even though they're a scam.
Yeah, I think the spam issue is like not cool because if people are creating content, they are engaging in the platform, then you shouldn't like Twitter shouldn't reward or Instagram should reward like fake ones doing that.
What did it mean before? I'm not like, I'm not like trying to undermine the comment. I'm literally asking like, what does it mean to you? Like, I don't know, I never really thought it meant much anyway.
Honestly, I think this is the dumbest idea ever that Instagram can do because why would you pay $15 a month just to have a subscription like no I'm not gonna do that.
This is how you are going to see all of those people who is thirsty for attention. They're going to pay for that verified check. Good luck. I love y'all. Do what y'all need to do to feel good.
I think that when they allow people to buy these verified badges, it takes away from like that exclusivity or being like a selected few people to have that verified badge. Now that everybody can buy it, it's like really known.
Yeah, I mean we are the product, right? And it's like, it's crazy that they know that people are like, almost borderline addicted and they're just like, oh how can we make more money off of those people specifically?
Oh yeah it's gonna Diwali for sure devalue Facebook as Facebook is also included in the verification process to pay $15 a month that's actually I think I believe it's a
When you say devalued, do you mean like the stock is going to go down or like just the user experience, the UI? Because like to me, I mean, they're going to collect revenue no matter what, right? But it might discourage engagement, which I think is like the long term.
Yeah, it doesn't feel like they even care about the folks that are going to be ambivalent about this. They just want to capitalize on the people that like need to have the check mark, you know what I mean? They don't even care that they may lose half of their audience.
I don't really care because I don't have to verify, because I don't ever post anyway. I'm just there to look at other people's posts so it doesn't affect me.
Yeah, that's a good point, Daniel. I think I do that too. A lot of people just watch content or they use it as a place to see content, right? They're not necessarily engaging. So there's a whole people that it doesn't apply to.
Is it $15 a month and you just get the verification or are there still qualification standards and it's just now like you just have to pay to actually be verified?
