So I have a story about the time I went to the Getty Villa in 2013 when I was traveling up the Pacific coast of California for the first time and so I'm just you know going around the Getty Villa because I was told I should go and I didn't realize it was just a bunch of Greek statues which is very boring but when the situation I got into there was not boring it's very entertaining so I'm just so you know I can around the Getty Villa inside looking at the statues in an all of a sudden I ran into one of my literature professors from college who used to come to the mail room he's very awkward he's very nice very quiet and he still delivers mail and all of the girls had crushes on him even the boys even the boys I don't know what it was about his charm but they really liked him I saw him as a very awkward quiet man who just did not want to be bothered and needed some quiet like librarian woman to marry or something like that and not these crazy college girls they need to like back off the boys so they were gonna do anything so it's whatever just these little college girls just to make it a fantasy isn't being really weird so anyway so I ran into him and it was like one of those moments where it's like he looks at me and I look at him and he looks at me and I look at him and he looked at me and I look at him and cause Read new like I knew that he knew that I knew that he knew that I knew that he knew that I knew that he knew that we both knew each other and we were not expecting to run into each other at the Getty Villa like literally thousands of miles away from our home and college it was yeah and every time I ran into him in the museum the day it was like
First of all, this was reminding me of a documentary on Netflix called Keep This Between Us and it's about predatory teachers and it's interesting and good and you should watch it if you haven't seen it. Second of all, uh, I'm gonna start a new memo because I forgot my second of all.
My parents are teachers or they are both retired now, but when I was a kid, whenever, wherever the fuck we would go on vacation, it always seemed like we would run into students of my parents, whether it was like three hours away in Lake Tahoe or it was in Washington, DC or Hawaii. We were like always running into my parents students. It's a curse of being a teacher. But also, when we went to Florida, which by the way, I live in California,
We went to Disney World on our summer break and we ran into like one of my brother's friends in Disney World and they like hung out all day fucking weird. You know, this was like Before cell phones and the internet and like people could connect and be like, oh, I saw on Facebook You're here, too. Let's meet at the Matterhorn. It wasn't like that. It was just like an organic random meat. You know what I'm talking about. Like you and the Getty.
Yes yes I know exactly and you know what this is happened to me too because my mom was a teacher and now that I work in the education system I know that I just want to avoid the kids at all costs and it's no offense to them but it's like I wanna live my life my private life without being interrupted and so I have to go to some
I have to go to some interesting measures to avoid running into students and for the most part I've been pretty successful Even on the Internet I've you know I had some runnings blocked people and all that stuff and then you know private and social media accounts for a little bit and kind of got people away from me but yeah I do everything I can to avoid students
