So, let's talk about the language. Seeing as Rastafarianism originated in Jamaica, they speak English and Patois. Well, of course, because it's not a specific people, it's just a religion. However, they have a very unique way of speaking , and Dread Talk developed, along with the religion, in the 1940s when they needed vocabulary to properly properly describe the experience of arasta and also the evolving consciousness of its members so they needed a specific way to describe these things they found the english language to be inadequate in expressing this this um so they drew inspiration from their ganja their weed induced state of mind and remodeled the english language and the jamaican language into one that will greatly express their perspective for example they use i words to express their awareness of divine positive energy i and i for god and humans and i man for the rasta who is conscious of his inner divinity and so the list goes on so for example they'd say uh if they want to say i'm not going to do that they would say i man nagadudat in the jamaican dialect uh in the gym if i'm just going to say raw i would just say minagadudat in in my dialect however arastu would say i man nagadudat which is interesting it's it's cool because they have to refer to themselves they have to to see themselves as conscious you know they're conscious of their divinity of their inner divinity and their inner light so they say Iman yeah good
