The best way to cope or the best way to improve mental health is not focusing on the bad, it's focusing on something else that will get you distracted. That's what helped me with my... I mean it didn't really help out with my depression but you know, obviously it's helping because me focusing on playing video games instead of worrying about past problems or past mistakes and shit like that.
