Sushi, a beloved delicacy worldwide, has a rich history that might surprise you. Its origins trace back millennia to China, where it began as narezushi, a dish of fermented rice and salted fish. This method of preservation was essential in times before refrigeration. Interestingly, the rice was initially discarded and only the fish was consumed. The dish migrated to Japan in the 8th century, evolving over time. By the 18th century, sushi had spread to Edo, modern-day Tokyo, with sushi restaurants flourishing. The sushi we recognize today owes its form to Hanaya Yohei, who innovated the ****-sized treat known as nijiri. Sushi's journey to the West began in the early 1900s, but its popularity surged post-California role. An American creation played a pivotal role in introducing sushi to those wary of raw fish. Today, sushi's global appeal continues to grow, with chefs constantly innovating and crafting new dishes. Stay sharp with Tell.

That's so interesting. You know, I love sushi so much it's actually one of my favorite foods and I never thought to like learn more of the deeper history that you explained so thank you so much for taking the time to do so and I mean I'm on the west coast so I am biased but the California roll is definitely delicious so if anyone wants to try sushi or isn't a fan at least just start with the California roll. Thank me later.
