The way I look at it is if you're going to deem a child responsible enough to choose their own medical decisions, such as severing their penis and reconstructing their vagina, then you should also deem them fit enough to go to work and pay for those surgeries. You should also allow them to get a driver's license to take themselves to the doctor's appointment. And you should also allow them to stay home, drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, smoke weed, have sex with whoever they want, and parents don't have to worry about it. Because guess what? They're deemed capable.
