If you were a stay-at-home mom and then went back to work, what were some things that helped you transition and make that transition smooth for both you and your kids? I have a job interview next week for a legal assistant position and it's going to be mostly work from home, but there's going to be some days I will be having to go in. And I've been a stay-at-home mom for most of both my kids' lives, so I just need all the tips and tricks and advice to make that transition just smooth.
I've done both. I've been a working mom and I've also been a stay-at-home mom and like I've gone back to work part-time and such and my biggest piece of advice is just make your one-on-one time with your child like more intentional. Like take more intentional time with them since you're going to be working.
This is probably going to be a long response, so I apologize, but my biggest piece of advice is that especially if your kids aren't used to really being away from you for long periods of time, whoever is going to be watching them on the days that you do have to go to work, whether
Whether it's an individual or even daycares will do this. Start small with leaving them with that person for an hour, leaving them for two hours, doing half a day at daycare.
And also maybe some things like a calendar somewhere that they can see it easily and kind of go over with them To this is today and I don't have to work today This is tomorrow and I have to work tomorrow and they can always look at it.
As hard as it is sometimes, and I'm not saying it's gonna be easy, but I think that trying your best to stay organized and have a routine is really comforting for them and they just know what to expect every day.
But I'm definitely wishing you the best of luck and even if it's hard at first just give yourself grace, give your kids grace and just know that you're gonna get into your routine you're gonna figure it out and you guys are gonna be okay.
So I currently work from home and I keep my daughter at home as well we don't do daycare and honestly my biggest tip is just like making sure you're prepped for the days that you're working so like I prep her meals the day beforehand
And like I prep all her snacks, I make sure that like she has activities and like just to keep herself occupied so that way she's occupied I'm able to do my job. Working from home is definitely sometimes hard.
I'm having her here, but I honestly wouldn't change it for the world. I like to have my daughter home and making sure that like I know what's going on. But yeah, those are my two biggest tips.
Definitely take it day by day. My biggest piece of advice is to definitely find time to like put the phone away and just spend quality time one-on-one time, especially if you're out of the house more often than they're used to.
