I think reality TV shows are really just survival competitions. These shows thrive on dramas. You get a group of people together, make them date each other in front of each other, stir up drama through emotions of betrayal and rejection, and then use them at prusive experiments whether it works or not. What do you think makes the show thrive?
I think that people like to project their lack of romance or intimacy onto others and the fact that people don't like love is blind or so willing to go on a show and be vulnerable like that and also be married within a couple days makes people want to watch the show
I think it's simple psychology the human condition everybody even people who are in a kind of thriving on dating apps a lot of their communication is still in DM's and not IRL like they'll talk forever and not even really meet I think they should be used as like oh hi we swiped let's meet immediately I know in New York they do that a lot but anyway so I think it's that they watch people do it IRL
I believe that it's because there's so much dysfunction that shown that it normalize that instead of really addressing things like it's been a minute since I've watched any kind of reality TV but I mean honestly it's one of those that like it just normalize as it is dysfunction and it doesn't really some of them I guess show you how to connect better but I think we're all seeking to belong into normalize because we all feel like outside outsiders that don't belong you know
