This is ridiculous. She says back in the day women just stayed at home and didn't do anything, right? Like they weren't actually taking care of children or maintaining a household, or you know, that's just nothing. And that the women needed them, needed the man because they didn't have their own money. So they they didn't leave because they had nowhere else to go. This is a strong argument for returning to the way things were back in olden times.
The reasons for getting married are much the same as they always were. You want to have children and pass on what you have to the next generation. To do that, you need a mate, and having a stable marriage is the best foundation to do that. Companionship is another reason, having someone to share your life with, having someone to share your home with, dividing up the tasks related to those things. Lots of reasons to get married.
