I believe in an afterlife because it ain't no way that once I die my consciousness is just gonna be voided off and like never seen or interacted with again, not even by myself. Like, that would be mad depressing!
In itself, I believe in the eternal aspect of the universe. I neither think matter can be destroyed nor created. So there must be a source to a matter's existence rather than being a creation. But the compliment is believed, I've combined it with the idea of Panentheism, which states the philosophical doctrine that God is imminent within the universe, but is simultaneously transcendent. God inhabits the universe while the universe is located within God. God is the source to the universe's existence, and rather than creating the universe in manifesti.
The universe's existence is dependent on God, but God is not dependent on the universe. Being a factor would be an afterlife, which is just a higher realm. God IS that realm, God itself, is an afterlife. So I believe the union is shaped within God and us. and once we die we transcend and become one with God as we derive from the same essence as God, as God is the source.
