In 2010, Mattel introduced the computer engineer Barbie as a nod to the tech industry, while the doll with her pink laptop and binary code t-shirt was initially celebrated for promoting STEM careers to girls, it faced backlash due to an accompanying book titled, I Can Be a Computer Engineer. The story depicted Barbie as reliant on male friends for coding and fixing a computer virus, perpetuating gender stereotypes in tech. Critics argued that it undermined the very message the doll was supposed to convey. Following the uproar, Mattel apologized, acknowledging that the portrayal didn't align with Barbie's brand vision. It's a reminder of the importance of representation and the nuances involved in breaking stereotypes. Stay sharp with T.U.

Oh wow, I had no idea about that, so thank you for taking the time to explain it. It's so interesting to me how many times Barbie has been at the center of controversy over the years, which is a lot. So something like this doesn't entirely surprise me, but I feel like a lot of people overall forget the message of Barbie and what she's meant to be to so many people out there. So again, appreciate the time you took to explain this to everyone.

I'm gonna tame some pieces on that Barbie like they do in Toy Story.
