Beginner Tips: How to Develop Your #VoiceOnStereo!

Talking on Stereo is a great way to have some fun, but it can also introduce you to new people and build yourself an audience following. With thousands of Stereo users all over the world, you have the opportunity to attract attention, broadcast your talents, and show the world why you have something meaningful to say! To get to the next level takes a little time and effort, so we’ve put together some quick and easy tips to get you going as a recognized #VoiceOnStereo.

Tip #1: Be Consistent. To build an audience, it’s important to host Stereos frequently and at a consistent date and time. Your listeners will begin to tune into your talk if you set a regular cadence.

Tip #2: Test Showtimes. Do an experiment and test which times and days of the week get you the most listeners. If your target audience is professionals, think about when they’d mostly likely join a show like yours...Is it during their commute? Something to unwind to at the end of the day? If your show is about basketball, when are fans most likely to be paying attention to sports content? Find what’s best and be intentional about when you go live.

Tip #3: Schedule Your Talks. If your audience doesn’t know when you’re talking, they won’t know when to catch you! A spontaneous Stereo can be a fun surprise for your most dedicated listeners, but when you’re first starting out, you’ll attract a greater audience if you give them advanced notice on the ole’ calendar.

Tip #4 Give It a Fun Title. Tell your audience what you’re talking about! One of the easiest ways to gain an engaged following is to make it easy for people interested in your topics to find your talk. Make your Stereo titles short, clever, and accurate to your discussion topics.

Tip #5: Don’t Forget Hashtags. Along with titles, #hashtags are a simple yet effective way to get people’s attention. Stereo users search by hashtag to find shows they are interested in, so by using hashtags, you’re making it easier for them to find your Stereos.

These are just a few foundational tips to help you get started on Stereo. If you have any questions or feedback about how to apply some of these tips, let us know , we’re here to help!

June Was a Blast!

Hello, Stereo World:

As June comes to a close, we reflect on an exciting month that showed that a rebound from the challenges of the pandemic was possible. Most of all, Stereo’s community celebrated Pride with countless real talks that explored everything from personal identity, sex and relationships, to the hottest LGBTQIA artists, music and style.

In honor of Pride, we’re highlighting our final Stereo LGBTQ+ voice, comedian Paul Ober, and have donated $1,000 between two LGBTQ+ charities selected by Paul and Tavhani Quarterman (featured in our last post).

Keep reading to hear more from paulsbrain and his Stereo world!

What are your life/career aspirations?

My immediate goal is to begin making enough money in standup comedy to eat sushi three times a week without going into debt!

Does your identity impact the content you create on Stereo and, if so, how?

It almost always does, whether I’m talking about playing video games with my boyfriend or complimenting butts on a sports show. We live in a beautiful time where the LGBTQIA community is being lifted up more and more by society, and I feel we should all capitalize on the opportunity for transparency. Who doesn’t love being themselves?

What recurring Stereo shows do you do?

WFU2 Sports Radio with Joe Bartnick, Nitty Gritty with Keith Burr. Check them out! I like the idea that on Stereo you can meet such a vast array of people that you’d never have met otherwise.

Why do you feel it’s important to discuss Pride & LGBTQ+ issues on your platform?

Society seems to be moving in a more positive direction for the LGBTQIA community. I think it’s kind of our duty to be as transparent as possible right now so we can fully normalize ourselves. Some topics I address on stereo are about Gay stuff, sports, comedy, and equal rights/social issues. I never shy away from anything, which is a gift and a curse. We don’t bite much!

What do you hope listeners get out of/take away from your content?

I want positivity and comedy to be part of everything I do, and I hope that my listeners take that with them! I just want people to feel accepted. And giggly.

Do you have a Pride anthem you’re playing on repeat this year?

Oh you know it! I listen to Montero by Lil Nas X a dozen times a week lol.

What else would you like Stereo users to know about you and/or your Stereo content?

You will leave my shows feeling good about yourself, I promise! I believe in the power of positivity, I believe in hard work, and I believe in lifting people up. If you believe in that too, come on over and hang out with me and my other hosts!

How do you celebrate Pride year round and/or how can others celebrate pride year round?

Great question. I make sure to have sex with my boyfriend as much as possible, and I encourage everyone else to do so as well. Not my boyfriend. Other people. Y’alls significant others. Mine is mine. Also I wear leggings because my butt looks nice in them, and if that’s not pride, I dunno what is!! I also never shy down from my sexuality- if people wanna know about it, I’ll let ‘em know!

We love the diversity of our Stereo voices -- check out Paul’s conversations and countless others about your favorite things

Happy Pride, Stereo Family!

Happy Pride, Stereo Family!

During LGBTQ+ Pride month, we celebrate and honor a diverse community and the impact of its members on the fight for civil and human rights and social justice. Whether you personally identify as LGBTQ+, or as an ally, this is a good time to learn and to show your support for the values of acceptance, equality, and love.

Stereo is a forum for open, authentic talk. We seek to create an inclusive community where everyone can have a voice & be a part of the conversation. To support Pride month, Stereo is highlighting two of our LGBTQ+ voices on the blog, and donating $1,000 between two LGBTQ+ charities selected by these featured members.

How does your identity impact your presence on Stereo?

My identity directly impacts the content I create. As a black female of the LGBTQ+ community, it is my mission to promote and support inclusivity for all people. I discuss relationships, LGBTQ+ empowerment, and many other topics.

Do you feel it’s important to discuss Pride & LGBTQ+ issues in the open?

I truly aspire to inspire others in a way that encourages them to live proudly in their authenticity, so yes, I believe it is extremely important to discuss Pride & LGBTQ+ topics.

How does Stereo help you accomplish this goal?

My favorite part of being a creator is the freedom and ability to express myself. It’s amazing to share/receive information on a platform that promotes the art of conversation versus texting.

What’s your Pride Anthem and how do you celebrate during the month?

I don’t have a specific anthem, I just live my life and I am out and proud! I celebrate pride everyday-- it’s not just one month out of the year.

How can others begin their journey to understand more about the LGBTQ+ community?

I would just suggest being more open-minded. It’s okay if you don’t agree with other lifestyles, but don’t treat someone differently because of it. Get to know people beyond what you see.

What else would you like Stereo users to know about you and/or your Stereo content?

I am a person of high values, moral fortitude, and integrity. I possess these qualities both in my personal and professional life as a law enforcement officer and as the LGBTQ+ liaison for my police department. My purpose is to encourage and help others discover who they truly are, which I also address in my practice as a Life Coach focused on the LGBTQ+ community.

We thank Tavhani for her insights and hope you’ll explore some of the great conversations taking place about Pride, LGBTQ+ topics, and how to support equality for all on Stereo.

Greetings, Stereo Friends-- Let’s Talk!

Hello Stereo Community!

It’s been a while, but summer is almost here and many of us are starting to venture out into the world again.

We all know 2020 was its own particular brand of chaos, but as we finally get to laugh with friends and hug family members again, it’s clear an important theme has emerged that we value more than before: our need for each other. The connection we feel to others-- family, friends, partners, lovers, the coffee guy, coworkers or crushes-- we need them all. Connection is a core human need, and without it, well, life is pretty boring. Add in the isolation from last year, and it’s no surprise that people looked for new ways to help them create and restore connection.

Stereo was launched at a time when people needed to express themselves and hear each other most. Between all the events of last year, connecting in community and sharing became more vital than ever before, and our experiences set the stage for the live audio world to take flight.

Over the last year, live audio transformed into an array of new tech-driven platforms that helped us find a bit of what we were missing in person-- a place to listen in, giggle, relate, cry, learn, even empathize. But not all audio platforms are equal. At Stereo, we believe creating connection is a two-way street. You can tune into your favorite conversation, but you can also react, respond and directly participate in it, too. You can start a chat with someone new from anywhere in the world or listen to your favorite Stereo voices on live shows or via recordings (and you don’t need an invite to join!). To further personalize the experience on Stereo, users create an animated, customizable avatar that keeps the attention on the conversation, and encourages people to share their thoughts more freely and honestly -- and that’s when things get interesting.

As Stereo continues to grow, this blog will be the official destination to hear about app news, top shows to tune into, the ever-evolving social audio landscape, how to become a stronger creator and much more…!

Introducing... Stereo Avatars! (& We Need Your Help)

We are excited to announce the addition of custom avatars to the Stereo app! These avatars will be used to represent YOU in the app on your profile and talking with others. This feature is completely customizable and will be a fun and playful way to show off not just your physical features, but also your personality. The best part is the avatars will be animated and will mimic your facial expressions as you talk and engage in the app.

Now all of that is great, BUT... we need your help! We want to ensure you love these avatars and they are something you actually want to use. We’ve had a team of designers creating a ton of different versions and have narrowed it down to 6 potential options.

And that’s where you come in. Head to this survey link to take a look at the potential options and give us your feedback on which you like best... and worst. Your feedback is invaluable to us as our team works hard to create a kickass app, so please take some time to really think about your responses.

Head to the survey now and check out all of the fun avatar options!
